Mosul Refugee Camp, Mosul, Iraq - Healing the Wounds, Revitalizing Mosul with Nature

The Site.

The selected site consists of three main elements: Farm, Forest and Old City. Farm and Forest, the very precious nature of the city, is to be protect and preserved.  Our aim is to have the architecture well integrated with the nature.

Al-Nuri Mosque Rebuilt.

Rebuilding the Iraqis spiritual home in the island is critical. It will also start from this.

Zone1- Urgent Humanitarian Aid.

We build the safest place for the refugees, a comfort zone to them. From Al-Nuri, there are solid walls creating an area with a diameter of 1km to be established as boundary of Zone1.

Zone2 - City re-integration zone.

The zone and building are embraced by the forest, creating a tranquil environment for the refugees, allowing the nature to do the healing of the people and the place. The building itself is just high enough for refugees to oversee the old city from the rooftop. This roof garden also connects with Zone 1 on one end whilst there is a path on the other end leading to the trees tower before reaching the old city.

The architecture is to be used as a transitional home for Mosul people yet it is not a temporary structure. When these buildings are not needed for such purpose, they will stay there to mark this chapter about the return of Mosul people.
